Starbucks Coffee Profit Loss
The customer rewards come at a great time for the largest coffee chain in the United States. The coffee chain has been losing money for the last few months, perhaps longer. It comes as a shock, seeing as how packed the stores are.
The Seattle, Wash.-based Starbucks said net income fell to $108.7 million, or 15 cents per share during the quarter, matching analysts’ estimates. But the company had lowered its profit predictions just last week to 15 cents per share. Analysts had previously expected the company to earn 21 cents per-share, according to Thomson Financial. (CNN)
Perhaps it has something to do with the price of drinks. A lot of people are unwilling to pay upwards of three or four dollars for a cup of coffee. For some cheaper Starbucks alternatives, see my earlier post. The coffee company is making some changes that favor the customers. Free syrup and milk additions to milk, when using a registered Starbucks Gift Card. Also, with the registered card, customers can get 2 hours of free wi-fi per day. They are definitely trying to make a comeback from their losses.
