Legislation to Protect Ohio Citizens from Identity Theft
It costs only five dollars - less than a couple of speciality coffee drinks. However, it can save a huge amount of time and expense for the citizens of Ohio:
“When a new Ohio law kicks in on Labor Day, you’ll be able to freeze your credit reports for $5 a pop.
Security freezes let you “lock up” your credit report and scores, making it more difficult for an identity thief to open accounts in your name.”

Consider this as preventative insurance. Thieves can be using your good name for a significant amount of time before it is discovered. And, remember, annual credit reports are available and there are no charge for those reports. Those requests for credit reports can be asked in a systematic, routine fashion from the credit bureaus. It just means being organized and pro-active in protecting your credit and identity.
