Job Hunting Skills
Within a few months, there will be a surge in the job market. With all those university graduates and high school students, it is a competition to land the job that you want. Paul MacKenzie has an informative article on ten tips that will help:

One of the things that Mr MacKenzie points out is that the curriculum vitae should be tailored to fit the job that you are seeking. This cannot be emphasized enough. A ‘one-resume-fits-all’ approach is not to the applicant’s benefit. It is not specific enough to sell the applicant’s exceptional skills, focused on that job and to that company. The application is noticed when it mentions the company. It shows initiative and an interest in working for the firm. Some people seeking work go as far as sending home-baked cookies with the application. This may seem a bit extreme but it illustrates the point of drawing attention.
With the hundreds of applications for ‘that one job’, spend some time and put some creativity towards being noticed. It may be as simple as a larger envelope. Just remember that there is someone hiring and that person wants to end the search as quickly as possible. Make that person’s work as easy as possible: draw attention to yourself and inform that person why the search should go no further. You are the one.
