Update Your Security Definitions
Without security software, it is likely that a computer connected to the internet could be infected within minutes. Having security software is a must. However, just having the security software is the first step.
The security software must be updated regularly to have the latest definitions and the latest protection. Without regular updates, the security protection gradually diminishes in effectiveness. With some programs, it is possible to schedule these updates to happen automatically and the program to run as a daily routine. For other programs, it is not an automatic function and must be part of the computer user’s regular maintenance routine.
Familiarity with the security programs is essential to preventing a myriad of problems, for yourself and possibly for other people. Make updating your security programs part of your daily routine. And do not make it less of a priority because you have not had any problems. That routine maintenance may be the very reason that your machine is problem free.
