Is Your Pet Overweight?
Feeding our animals has become a chore for most families. Because we are so busy with our day to day activities, most families leave food out for their pets to eat all day. In truth, most pets should only be fed once or twice a day — and that food should be a controlled amount.
It’s no secret that 30 percent of America is overweight. But many people may not even be aware that their cats and dogs are also overweight.
Of the 41 million pet dogs in this country, about 17 million are either overweight or obese, according to Dr. David Bessler of NYC Veterinary Specialists. (Link)
This is an issue that definately needs attention — and if your pet is severely over weight you should schedule an appointment with their veterinarian to discuss a long term treatment plan.
