If there is one thing that everyone should know about schools, it is that they are declared ‘no weapon’ zones. This means, no firearms, knives or other devices which might classify as a weapon. Employees of schools should know this rule better than anyone. However, some students recently found out that their teacher apparently does not know the rules.

Teacher Jayne DeArmond was arrested Wednesday for investigation of possession of a firearm on a school campus and misdemeanor child endangerment after students at Diamond Elementary School found the weapon, said Angela Burrell, a spokeswoman for the Santa Ana Unified School District. (Link)

At a minimum, this teacher will lose her job, and probably never teach again. However — for endangering students and having a firearm on campus she should do some sort of jail time. No one was injured but there was potential for a very dangerous situation here.
