Hillary Clinton: The Fallout of Feelings
It seems that Senator Clinton let her guard down momentarily on the campaign trail. She had an emotional moment. And her political candidates have pounced on this display of feeling.
There are some that say that it shows weakness. Some say that the campaign trail - and the presidency - is for the tough. Other say that it was scripted and phony. And on and on, the criticism continues.
Sometimes it is not about who is your candidate of choice. It is about basic decency.
There have been presidents who have become emotional in addressing some issues. There have been other national leaders and business executives who have shown unguarded emotional moments. Was their toughness questioned? No. Men’s emotional displays of this nature are not questioned.
This reaction befalls Mrs. Clinton because she is a woman. - The reactions of the candidates are more telling about them than the unguarded moment reveals about Mrs. Clinton. If people want to know why some of their fellow citizens are finding politics unseemly, point to this incident. Whether one likes or dislikes Mrs. Clinton, she is allowed her feelings. To turn the moment into political fodder is low. And if these political candidates and their handlers paused a moment, they would know that.
