Legislation for Internet Shopper Protection

In Europe, legislation is being prepared to give internet shoppers more protection and to identify the better companies. The European Commission (EU) wants to implement this legislation to stimulate more competitive offerings for consumers:

“…EU Consumer Commissioner Meglena Kuneva said she has proposed establishing a blacklist of unfair contract terms. She also suggested cooling off periods to give consumers time to back out of a sales decision.”

The goal is to increase commerce online and across national borders. Further, it is indicative of the increase in online shopping as fuel costs are becoming a greater barrier to people using brink and mortar retail outlets.
