JetBlue Goes on eBay

There might be travel bargains on eBay if one does not become caught up in the bidding. JetBlue has started using eBay as a means to market specific travel products:

“…In an apparent first in the airline industry, JetBlue Airways Corp. yesterday started a weeklong auction on eBay for more than 300 round-trip flights and six vacation packages.

Opening bids were set at between 5 and 10 cents but quickly went higher as customers began making offers. The Forest Hills-based discount carrier said the auction will run through Sunday.”

Using eBay is a creative way to reach certain buying segments. It appeals to the internet bargain hunters. This may be immensely popular with students and seniors on fixed incomes. Both groups have some flexibility in time and the limitations of budget. They may be able to find suitable air fares on a familiar venue, eBay.
