Coming to a Starbucks Near You
A few weeks ago, Starbucks Coffee launched a new website, MyStarbucksIdea.com. The purpose of this site was to let the customers tell Starbucks what they wanted. The website comes at a perfect time for Starbucks Coffee - they are losing money.
What is even more surprising; Starbucks is actually listening to their customers. There are changes coming, and they are great changes. Starbucks is working on free wi-fi hours for customers, and they have implemented some rewards for customers.
The free wi-fi hours will come with the change from T-Mobile to ATT as their hotspot provider. Starbucks is considering allowing customers, who have a registered Starbucks Card (it is free!), to have two free hours of wi-fi access. More wi-fi hours would be available to customers who regularly reload their Starbucks card with more money. The idea is great, but two free hours might not be enough. I still think that Starbucks should offer 24 hour wi-fi to paying customers. Print the password on the receipt, and change it every 24 hours.
The next change, also available to customers with a registered Starbucks card is already implemented. This rewards program offers customers free syrup ($0.30cents extra) and free milk upgrades (usually $0.50cents extra). This would save customers a little less than a dollar on a drink that has both soy/breve milk and syrup. This change means that my Grande Breve Vanilla Misto would cost the same as a Grande Misto. It is a great idea and while the savings are not that great - it can add up for those who need a daily Starbucks fix.
The new additions are not perfect, but they are a start to some great changes that Starbucks has planned.
