Strip Search by Camera

How would you feel if you entered a train station and were subjected to a camera that could see through your clothes to detect drugs, weapons or anything else dangerous?  This technology could be very useful — however it brings up a few issues of privacy as well.

The technology works by detecting and measuring terahertz waves, or T-waves for short. These are a form of electromagnetic radiation, emitted by all people and objects that lie between the infrared and microwave parts of the spectrum. The waves from any given material also carry a distinctive signature, offering the potential to distinguish Semtex from modelling clay and cocaine from sugar. The technology has been designed to not show anatomical parts — however I think there will be some people who will complain about the technology.  I have a feeling that airports will adopt this technology, which will make air travel even safer.

I think that the technology is a great idea — and police and airports should start using it as soon as possible.
