Stranded Airline Passengers and Rule 240

With hundreds of flights being canceled, frustrated travels might want to keep in mind Rule 240. Not all airlines will honor this rule but some carriers still will follow this regulation:

“…One of these rules, number 240, specified that if an airline couldn’t get you to your destination on time, it was required to put you on a competitor’s flight if it would get you there faster than your original airline’s next flight. Airlines were even required to put you in first class if that’s all that was available.”

This one rule may help to ease the frustration of flight problems or save you some money in terms of a refund. Rule 240 may be a good starting point when you want to initiate discussions with an airline about why you are still there.
