Travel Regulations - WHTI
It is called the “Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative” (WHTI) and its focus is border security. The travel site explains, in detail, what are the requirements of travelling across North American borders:
“…The goal of the WHTI is to facilitate entry for U.S. citizens and legitimate foreign visitors, while strengthening U.S. border security. Standard documentation will enable the Department of Homeland Security to quickly and reliably identify a traveler…”

Air travellers are subject to these regulations. Land and sea travel regulations will be enforced in 2009. The site has useful information if you are thinking of travelling across borders. The regulations are subject to immediate change, so this is one site that should be visited before international travel.
