Women’s Sports Gets a Hall of Fame

This is a long overdue event; women finally have a center devoted entirely to women in sports. Named for Billie Jean King, who was a pioneer in her own right, the Billie Jean King International Womens Sports Center features museum exhibits and a hall of fame. For too long, the accomplishments of women athletes have taken the backstage to those of men, even as they’ve had to work harder to achieve their goals. While the Womens Sports Foundation - founded in 1974 by Billie Jean King - started the International Womens Sports Hall of Fame in 1980, it’s time for a permanent space for the exhibits. Congratulations to those worked to create this space, and to those whose achievements are or will be celebrated here.
