iPhone Photo Album

The Apple iPhone and iPod Touch have a photo album that allows users to carry around photos from their computer. Until now, it has been impossible to save photos from the web directly to the iPhone/iPod. Users would have to put the image on their computer and then transfer it to the iPhone/iPod.

The latest beta version of Apple’s iPhone 1.2.0 firmware gives you the possibility of saving pictures straight from Safari and into the Photo Album. We tried and it works: just hold your finger against an image for a longer time than usual and the popup dialog will appear. (Link)

I can only hope that this feature will eventually come to the iPod Touch — it would be very useful.  Hopefully Apple will not decide to charge iPod Touch users for the feature.
