Gay Marriage in California
“We therefore conclude that in view of the substance and significance of the fundamental constitutional right to form a family relationship, the California Constitution properly must be interpreted to guarantee this basic civil right to all Californians, whether gay or heterosexual, and to same-sex couples as well as to opposite-sex couples,” Chief Justice Ronald George wrote for the majority.”
In short, Gay couples are allowed to get married in California legally and are recognized as a domestic partnership. People from all over the U.S. have traveled to California to make their relationship permanent. Such an advancement could not have come at a better time. I hope that people learn to embrace this lifestyle and that these partnerships eventually become legal in all fifty states.
