Bank Won’t Give Up Money

Everyone trusts that their bank will allow them to withdraw their money when it is requested.  However, what would you do if your bank said “no, we cannot give you this money, because we have other customer who need the money.  If we give it to you, then we won’t have enough for everyone else.”  What if after giving 24 hours notice, they will refuse to allow you to withdraw your money?  Well, this happened at a Washington Mutual Bank.

It was at this time that the faux hawk sporting manager said ‘nope’. He told me (still across the room BTW) that they operated on some automatic withdrawal machines and that he couldn’t authorize that much of a withdrawal because other people needed to use it and that the amount of capital wouldn’t cover it. Not only did the bank refuse to give a customer his money, but the staff acted completely inappropriate by shouting across the bank that the customer wanted to withdraw $4200.  I understand that a bank is unable to give out large sums of cash on short notice, they simply cannot plan to have enough money to please everyone at any one time.  However, with 24 hours notice, a branch should be able to easily get enough money for the customer.
