Parents of Boy Killed in Fire Sue Grandparents

Every-once and a while, we see a story in the news that makes you go: “Whhhatt… Are the serious?” In today’s sad world, it appears that this is happening more often than one would expect: for example, in this article. Right of the bat, that totally seems off the charts to me, Why would you sue your own parents over the death of your child? Something clearly has to be wrong with my eyes, but from reading the article, it appears i am not mistaken.

The Parents of 5 year old Maxwell Lulich, are suing his grandparents for not rescuing him and failure to put out the fire:

Graham Lulich and Angela Lindgren have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Lulich’s parents. The grandparents were caring for 5-year-old Maxwell Lulich when a fire broke out at their Town of Hartford home last April. (Link)

Perhaps the article doesn’t go into enough details, such as, how the fire started, or if there was a blame to the fire. The article just points out that the grandfather was severely burned in the fire, but the grandmother made it out safely.

I am very puzzled by this. If its a simple house fire; these things sadly do happen, and taking this type of action will do even more damage than that which has already been done. If, by some chance the fire was at fault of the grandparents, i.e., falling asleep while smoking, while they are still at fault, do you really want to destroy your family even more? it just really seems silly to me. Money doesn’t fix a problem like that in life, it is only going to make the memories of poor Maxwell be tarnished by hate and distaste by the family for how it separates them.

Our world has really become lawsuit happy, and I feel very sorry for the lawyers and judges that will have to hear this case when it goes to trial. Separating law, and morals becomes a vary hard thing to do.
