Three Year Old Sleeps for the First Time
A good nights sleep is something that everyone over the age of 15 looks forward to. How would it feel to never be able to get a full nights sleep, until you are three years old? After an experimental surgery, a three year old was finally able to fall asleep.
Rhett Lamb suffers from chiari malformation, which puts pressure on his brain stem, but in the experimental surgery, doctors removed pieces of bone from Rhett’s skull and spine to relieve that pressure.

The procedure cost $60,000 USD, and was not covered by medical insurance. How insurance does not pay for an operation that will potentially cure a rare condition is beyond me. The parents must be finally relieved, everyone can go to sleep at the same time. This is an example a how medicine works to save lives, but the insurance industry acts to slow down the process or getting their clients/patients healthy.
