Starbucks and Earth Day

In the past, Starbucks used to celebrate Earth Day with a free cup of coffee if you brought in your own coffee container. This may be a semi tradition that your local area Starbucks maintains. It seems to be difficult to determine and the local Starbucks here has no instructions. What the coffee conglomerate is publicizing is a joint effort with Conservation International (CI):
“…Visit any Starbucks store in the United States and Canada on April 22, and for every purchase made with a Starbucks Card that day, Starbucks will donate 5 cents to CI to plant trees in Chiapas.”
