Customer Service at Starbucks
One company that prides themselves on primo customer service is Starbucks Coffee. As a former employee, I can testify that one of their major views is that the customer is always right. And while the barista may not always be happy – they will accommodate you whenever and however possible.
One example would be last week when I got my Grande Vanilla Breve Misto. After drinking my misto, I got a really bad stomach ache that knocked me down for the rest of the next day. I thought that it might be something in the drink — perhaps bad milk. I sent a comment into Starbucks, letting them know that one of their stores could have some expired milk. Sadly, it is something that happens and in most cases there isn’t much to be done about it.
Today, one week later, I got a call from a representative at Starbucks Coffee, by the name of Kelly. I think she may have been a district manager — but it may have just been a customer service person. She told me that she had checked with the store, and that no one else had complained. Just to be sure, she had the store check the date on all of their milk. After our conversation, she offered to send me a Starbucks Card for the trouble. It was not something that they needed to do, but it was a great move by them. They wanted me to know that they valued my business, and that the bad drink was surely a flaw.
Another example, which happened today when I again went for my Grande Vanilla Breve Misto. This time it was at a different store. I ordered my drink, and there was a new person at the register. She was having some difficulty getting my drink — and I told her that it was no problem and she could take her time. After getting my drink from the barista, I noticed that they forgot to put the vanilla syrup in my drink. I was already walking out to my car, but decided to go back inside and see if they could just add it into the drink for me. Sure enough, the barista offered to either remake my drink or add the syrup right in. I told her that it was fine to add it right in. She even gave the drink a stir to mix it! She then apologized and handed me my drink.
Bravo on the great Customer Service Starbucks!
