Using An Old Laptop Hard Drive
Rick Broida has a post on CNET that is interesting because it touches on three of my personal tech criteria. It is relatively inexpensive (cheap); it takes care of otherwise technical junk; and it is useful for backing up stuff. I am a huge fan of backing up stuff.
The suggestion in a USB notebook hard drive:
“So you pulled that cramped old 40GB hard drive out of your notebook and replaced it with 160GB of storage goodness. Ever wonder what you should do with the leftover drive? Simple: stick it in an enclosure and use it as a portable USB hard drive.”

The one drawback might be that this type of enclosure could be another item that finds its way into my backpack. And space is becoming a bit limited there - which could mean additional spending.
