Fire Season Starts Early

Fire season is a big issue for people in Arizona, part of California and other parts of the United States.  Every year there are small fires and the big fires that require homes or cities to be evacuated.  Usually, fire season starts towards the end of May, when summer starts to hit its hardest.  However, this year, fire season comes to us early.

SIERRA MADRE, Calif. - Firefighters gained ground Sunday against an early season wildfire that slowly chewed its way through dense brush near Los Angeles, forcing more than 1,000 people from homes in the foothills. (Link)

The best thing to do if you live in a high risk area for fires is to have some sort of plan.  Keep important documents together, so they can be easily packed in the event of an evacuation.  Plan on what you will take with you if you need to leave your home.  Have an idea on where your family will meet if not everyone is home at the time of the emergency.

Having a plan of ‘exit’ so to speak, comes in very handy for every event in life.  If you are prepared for emergencies, you will be able to act.  If you are unprepared, chances are you will just sit there in shock.
