Treating the Flu
It is the height of cold and flu season and as a parent you want to make sure your sick child is as comfortable as possible.But ever since the Food and Drug Administration warned in January that it was too dangerous to give cough and cold medicines to children under the age of 2, many parents have been left wondering what they can give to babies and toddlers. Antibiotics are largely ineffective in treating the flu — because they are designed to kill bacteria not a virus. The flu is a pretty bad thing to have because it can knock you off of your feet for a week or more. The best thing to do to get over the flu is to rest and drink fluids. If you can, stay home from school or work. If you must go to school or work, try and sit away from other people.
There are a lot of home remedies to help treat some of the symptoms for the flu — a simple Google search can reveal a lot of easy things you can do.
If your symptoms do not improve in three to four days, give your doctor a call. The flu can lead to some worse things, such as pneumonia or bronchitis.
