Cuil and an Unfortunate Start
First impressions is a one chance thing. Cuil, with the help of some ex-Google people, launched and is the target of some scathing press:
“Google challenger Cuil launched last night in blaze of glory. And it went down in a ball of flames. Immediately after launch, the criticism started to pile on: results were incomplete, weird, and missing.
I talked with Cuil VP of communications Vince Sollitto this morning about the launch issues. CEO Tom Costello was “busy putting out fires,” Solitto (sic) said.”

That review was among the milder ones. Some of reviewers were less kind. The people who have invested in this project must be devastated. Regaining internet traffic, after a less-than-stellar launch, is a daunting task. It was a bad and ‘buggy’ start.
