DUI Arrests in Tucson
‘Don’t drink and drive’. That is one of the first statements that I recall hearing from police officers during the awareness days in elementary school. The concept seems so easy to follow; if your state of mind is impaired, don’t drive. However, if your state of mind is impaired, how can you decide not to drive? Well, one answer is have a designated driver. No matter how obvious the concept is, police are still able to arrest drivers; as we see from a recent checkpoint in Tucson, Arizona.
Tucson Police made 15 DUI arrests during a six-hour-long sobriety checkpoint on Friday, April 25 at the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Mountain View. Four people were charged with extreme DUI, one was booked on a felony charge of extreme DUI, two people under the age of 21 were arrested and three people were cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol. (Fox11 News, Tucson)
It amazes me to see how many people get caught. Being a resident of Tucson, I see the checkpoints every so often, and have even been stopped by them. What is even better — the checkpoints are often announced beforehand. Yet people get caught. 17 officers spoke with over 1,000 drivers and arrested 15.
Great job Tucson Police Department.

Drinking while driving is a huge problem, not only in Arizona, but all of the United States. Repeat offenders shouldn’t even have licenses.
