Rat Poison Restriction

Rat poison does more than kill rats — it can kill humans.  Various groups around the states have been urging the EPA to do something about the availability of rat poison.  The EPA has finally done just that.  Rat poison will be restricted in terms of who can buy it and how much they can buy.

Under the new restrictions, only farmers, livestock owners and certified rodent control employees will be allowed to purchase rat poison in bulk. Bags larger than 8 pounds will no longer be sold at hardware and home-improvement stores.

This is a smart move by the EPA.  However, most of the cases involving child death is caused by negligent parents — who put hazardous chemicals in areas where their child can easily access it.  It should not be stored under the kitchen sink — in fact it should not be stored in your house.  The garage would be a good place, either high on a shelf, or in a locked cabinet.
