iPod Touch January Update - A Second Look
It has been a week since I bought the January update for my iPod touch — and I have to say that I am still thrilled with the purchase. Since my last post on the subject, I have a few more things to add.
I have been using the ‘mail’ application and the ‘notepad’ application more than anything else. These two applications alone are worth the $20 dollars alone. I use the notepad application to keep a ‘ToDo’ list for each of my classes and daily reminders.
The mail application is great — but I am still debating if it is better than the new and improved gmail that Google just let out for the iPod. One pro about the mail application is that you can add multiple accounts (not just google mail), and it is easier to access. You do not have to open Safari and then navigate to the mail page.
For those of you looking to put lyrics on your iPod Touch — here is a guide on how to do it. However, the amount of effort it takes is not worth the time.
Yes, there is a way to get it for free. You can jailbreak your iPod and then get the applications for free — however if you do this, Apple will not help you when you run into trouble. It is also rumored that jailbreaking your iPod Touch will void your warranty.
It is safer to skip Starbucks for a week and buy the update. $20 dollars is a very reasonable price.

You don’t have to open safari and navigate to gmail, just put it as a webclip - works great.

as far as I know, you need to Jailbreak your iPod in order to add webclips. Correct me if I am wrong.

No need for Jailbreak, you can easily add webclips with the January upgrade. Works like a charm.

Figured it out with the January Update — and I love it. Although, I was talking about the fact that you need to jailbreak a ipod without the January update= ).
