Poisonous Plants and Pets

People generally ‘pet proof’ a home before introducing a new pet. However, as the pet become integrated into the household routine, dangerous items may be introduced inadvertently. Some plants may be not be suitable for a pet household. For example, a chrysanthemum bloom may result in “gastrointestinal upset, including drooling, vomiting and diarrhea”. The ASPCA provides a list of seventeen poisonous plants:

Picking a great puppy from a litter is a bit of science, a little experience, some testing and a whole load of good luck. Experienced dog people like to try experiments with the litter of puppies to see if it is possible to gain some insight into what these soon-to-be-adult dogs will be like. Humans are at a decided disadvantage picking out a pup from a litter. They are all cute; and, if you are a dog person, there is the strongest inclination to take them all home.

Using Dried Tea Leaves with Your Dog

Your dog may have a favourite dog bed or cushion. If the fabric material begins to take on a ‘doggy odour’, it is possible to take out that scent with either baking soda or dry tea leaves. Just sprinkle the baking soda on the dog bed and leave it for a few hours. Then it can be vacuumed and the odour will be decreased significantly.
