When we started PublicRadar, our hopes were that our fan base would start submitting articles — and thus help populate the website. We occasionally get a submission, but we are always looking for more! Submitting an article is a great way to get your name (or internet handle) out on the internet. PublicRadar gives credit to the author, and allows the author to retain ownership of the content that is submitted. Initially, all submitted articles are posted by the user ‘PublicRadar’, with the authors name at the end of the post. Eventually, we would like to give our most frequent submitters a WordPress account.

One of the challenges for a site like PublicRadar is finding ways to pay the bills. Justin and I try to do that by having some Google ads on the site. We try to make those as unobtrusive as possible. However, most internet citizens are fairly immune to the ads now. Another strategy that we have tried is to feature some products that are on sale at a good bargains. Most time, it is something that either Justin or I (and sometimes both of us) would buy.

There has been a problem with the submission form over the last few days.  The problem was brought to my attention this morning; and it should be fixed now.  If there are any further problems submitting an article, please send us a note via the ‘contact us’ link. We will try to fix it immediately, if possible.

On a side note, we are now members of the Apple Affiliate Program, so if you need anything specific from Apple, send us a note via the contact us link and we can send you a custom link.

I can write about technology and health related issues all day, because that is my passion. However, this site is about you, the reader, and your passions. We want to write about different topics that will attract a wide range of readers. In order to see what everyone’s interests are, I have started a poll, via Google Docs. *Update* - As of 3:40pm pacific time, the move has been completed.  The website is fully functional.

On Friday April 11, at 3pm pacific time, PublicRadar will be moved to a new server. We are not moving hosts — but our host is going to move us to an newly upgraded server. This should improve the site slowness at night.

WordPress 2.5 was released today, and installed on PublicRadar.

We had some unexpected downtime, as the update caused some issues.  Everything seems to be up and running as of 1:45pm pacific time.
